I’ve hinted a bit about a big announcement and, here it is – I’ll be running the Chicago Marathon in October as part of the American Cancer Society’s DetermiNation team.  I’m still a bit shocked at this decision considering the fact that I have declared several times (even during my half marathon training) and I never ever want to run a full marathon, but hey, go big or go home.  While this is a rather lofty goal I’ve set for myself, but I’m looking forward to not only proving to myself I can run a marathon, but supporting a cause close to my heart by raising donations for ACS.

While I’ll be the one worrying about training over the next several months, I need your help and support – I have committed to raising $1,000 for the American Cancer Society by October 7.  Any donation would be greatly appreciated and every dollar counts!  You can read more about the motivation behind running the marathon and donate directly here.  No donation is too small (think about skipping Starbucks for one day) and you can help me out even more by spreading the word and sharing my donation page with your own social networks and friends.

Thank you so much in advance – the blog community and my readers has always been such a huge support system for me and I look forward to sharing this experience with you all.  If I have any marathon runner readers – any advice would be greatly appreciated as I gear up to conquer my first half marathon in a few weeks and then continue on with training for the next three months.
